The Island Mi’kmaq Cultural Network
The MCPEI has recently developed a multi-phase plan to bring the story of PEI Mi’kmaq history and culture to a broader audience. Proposed are developments at a number of locations and with various partners. The MCPEI will be pursuing realization of the plan over the next several years.

Research Projects in Archaeology
Research projects in Archaeology have been completed recently and others are underway. These generate important information about Mi’kmaq history on PEI which also supports protection of Mi’kmaq Sites.

Port-la-Joye – Fort Amherst (PLJFA) Redevelopment Committee
The MCPEI, along with the Saint Thomas Aquinas Society and the Royal Commonwealth Society, have formed the Port-la-Joye – Fort Amherst (PLJFA) Redevelopment Committee. This group, representing Mi’kmaq, Acadian and British connections to the site, will create a vision for the redevelopment and revitalization of this site, so important to Island history.

Guidelines for the use of Mi’kmaq Traditional Knowledge
A set of Guidelines for the use of Mi’kmaq Traditional Knowledge was recently created by the MCPEI. This will help ensure appropriate use of Mi’kmaq knowledge by third parties.
