Tyson Jesso
"I love the pressure - when the coaches push you to give it everything you've got" says Tyson Jesso. In his fourth year playing hockey, now in his second year “Peewee” with the Charlottetown Abbies Hockey Association, Tyson is shining as both a “defensemen” and as “forward”. " I play where they need me most, he says. While he's very proud of his six goals and many assists he also enjoys knowing when he's played strong defense. "Hockey is fun because you're part of a team, you're with your friends and you're having fun."
Like all boys his age Tyson is not fond of the early morning practices or when there's bad sportsmanship on and off the ice. But what bothers him most is forgetting his water bottle as many times as he does. "You HAVE to have a water bottle!!!!!.
Tyson, (13) is in Grade 7 at Queen Charlotte School. He lives in Charlottetown with his mother Jody Jesso, his sister Teisha (11) and little brother Dyami, (4). "He has a lot on his plate" says his mother, " but he still finds time to get his homework done, do some chores around the house and help out with his little brother."
Tyson has always enjoyed sports but he enjoys many other activities like being with his friends, playing soccer, camping, swimming and playing his Xbox, just to list a few.
Spending money has to be earned and Tyson has been delivering the Guardian newspaper in the mornings for the past year. "I don't always enjoy getting out in the morning to do it but it's a great way to earn money. I have my own bank account and am pretty good at saving for things Mom can't afford to buy me. Sometimes she pays half and I pay the other half.
Tyson doesn't really know yet what career path he's going to take but he's certainly put all the building blocks in place to become a very successful young man. Good work Tyson!
