Will Jadis, 17 of Scotchfort, has pretty much played basketball ever since he could pick one up, said his parents Alfred Gallant and Angela Jadis. Since the time he was around seven or eight years old, Will, started shooting hoops with local teenagers. “He learned pretty quickly and it came quite natural to him,” said Mr Gallant. Now fast forward to his high school career where Will was and remains an integral part of the Morell Marlins success. He has done his best to help his team win their first ever gold medal as a junior, win gold medals in the years between and just recently was titled MVP of the Year. Basketball isn’t the only sport Will is making a name for himself in, said Mr Gallant. He is also actively involved in the Kings County Baseball League playing for The Sluggers, where recently he and three teammates were chosen to represent the team in a fundraising All-Star game. “Hardball is really his sport,” said Mr Gallant. “Even playing T-Ball the other parents and coaches made us advance him to the next level because they were scared he’d hurt another player.” Will’s parents have proudly travelled across Quebec and the Maritimes to watch him play baseball during The Nationals as well. Will and his family also have a baseball team they enter in co-ed tournaments across the Island where they often find themselves victorious. Will is expecting to enter his senior year at Morell High with another successful season of basketball and baseball and plans on attending Holland College at some point to play with the Hurricanes.
Keep up the good work Will and good luck in whatever sports you are playing. Congrats for being the Kwimu Messenger August Sports Star of the Month!
