Emily Darby wins the award in Aboriginal Studies at Colonel Grey High School
Written by Taunya Murchinson
Emily Darby, 18, of Charlottetown decided to enroll in a new Aboriginal Studies course in her senior year and because of it, her hard work and determination paid off at graduation. Emily was awarded the Aboriginal Studies Award during her graduation ceremonies at Colonel Gray High School on June 23. Some of the highlights of the course for Emily were the field trips and a conference she attended. Chris and Maureen Darby, Emily’s parents, said they couldn’t be prouder of their daughter for winning the award as Aboriginal ancestry is such an important part of Canadian and Island history. Emily plans to return back to school to upgrade her sciences and then attend Holland College to become an LPN (licensed practical nurse).
