The Mi’kmaq Confederacy of Prince Edward Island Family Support Services Program (PRIDE) provides liaison, family support and preventative services on behalf of the Lennox Island and Abegweit First Nation communities. The Child and Youth Support Worker will work under the supervision of the program Director and will work closely with the program family support worker.

Hours of work: Full time, evenings and weekends required.

Duties will include:
- Building relationships with children and youth through modeling of positive behavior and interaction skills;
- Work cooperatively with families and other helpers in planning, implementation of case actions and evaluations of outcomes;
- Engage children and youth in programs such as self esteem, life skills, anger management, peer relations, conflict resolution, behavior management, social skill development and family relationships;
- Apply non-violent crisis intervention and behavior modification techniques;
- Maintain and provide case documentation including daily case recordings, written and oral evaluations;
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of a recognized educational program such as child and youth care worker, or equivalent with training and experience;
- Knowledge of PEI First Nation Communities;
- Non-violent crisis intervention;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Must have strong interpersonal and collaborative skills;
- Must have excellent organizational skills;
- Must have demonstrated excellent problem solving, conflict resolution and facilitation skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required;
- Must have a valid driver’s license and use of a reliable motor vehicle;
- A good previous work and attendance record

The successful applicant will be required to provide proof of an acceptable security check and proof of $2,000,000 liability insurance on vehicle.
