Brent Chaisson


Brent grew up in Bear River, a small community outside of Souris, PEI. Since graduating Souris Regional High School, he has lived away from PEI in Limerick, Ireland and Ottawa, Ontario. Brent is a graduate of the Child and Youth Worker program at Holland College in 2006. Following graduation, he took up employment with the Roberts’/Smart Centre as a youth counselor in open, closed and residential treatment programs in Ottawa. He also worked in Ottawa for the Salvation Army as a street outreach worker working with both adults and young people without shelter. He also worked for the Ottawa Catholic school board as an educational assistant. 

In 2007, he returned home to PEI and began employment with the Tyne Valley Child and Youth Development centre as a youth worker. In the spring of 2010, he became an adult support person for the newly formed PEI Youth in Care Network working with young people in care from ages 14-21. He also worked in the Child Protection offices of Montague and Charlottetown as a youth worker, working one-to-one with young people/families. Brent also has a passion for music and art, performing at festivals across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. He has always brought music into his professional life teaching young people guitar, bass, piano, fiddle, drums, recording arts and runs a music program on Lennox Island. Brent lives in Miscouche, PEI with his wife, Mylène, and son, Louis-Gabriel.
