Deborah Langston

Born and raised in London, England to a Guyanese mother descended from Kashtriya’s of the Rajpoot Sect from East India and a father, the son of an African Chief. My name Uzoma Onyenobia was changed to Deborah when I was two years old. One of four daughters I attended Hornsey School for Girls which I graduated from in 1986 with nine O’ levels. Deciding not to further my education I went straight into the job sector. I gained employment as a Civilian with the Metropolitan Police Force, a position I remained in for twelve years, where I met my husband, Robin and worked with youth living in the inner City. During this time I also studied and graduated with a Diploma in Holistic Aromatherapy. After the birth of our twins, Ellie and Josh in 1999, we relocated to Milton Keynes a city 60km’s north of London where our youngest daughter, Millie was born.

In 2004 seeking a better environment to raise our children we immigrated to PEI, Canada. Realizing that I needed a career, I took the Child and Youth Worker Program at Holland College, graduating in 2009. Since graduating I have worked in Provincial Group Homes and with the Eastern School District before being fortunate enough to gain employment as the Community Child and Youth Worker for Abegweit in December 2010.
