Ed Frenette


Ed came to MCPEI in July of 2010 as Commercial Fisheries Liaison Coordinator following his service as executive director of the PEI Fisherman’s Association. Educated at UPEI and  Memorial University of Newfoundland, Ed has extensive experience in policy and development work in the commercial fishery as well as working with community and member-controlled organizations. He has over two decades of experience working with regional and national union organizations including the Maritime Fishermen’s Union, Alliance of Canadian Television Cinema and Radio Artists (ACTRA) and Teamsters Canada.

 

Ed is the author of numerous journalistic articles and in-house publications for various organizations. He represents PEI First Nations sitting on the Boards of Directors of the Lobster Council of Canada and the Canadian Council of Professional Fish Harvesters. With his background in the commercial fishery, policy and development Ed looks forward to assisting the growth and viability of the commercial fishery for First Nations on PEI, in turn contributing to the economic stability of our First Nation communities.
